Where mountain worlds converge

Baltistan sits between the upper Indus and the vast granite and ice landscapes of the central Karakoram. Skardu is the region’s gateway, but its character is found across a wider network of valleys: Shigar toward the Baltoro, Khaplu along the Shyok, and remote Hushe beneath the peaks of the Masherbrum range.

A well-paced journey combines dramatic geography with the region’s Balti heritage. Historic forts, mosques, irrigation settlements and village landscapes reveal connections with Tibet and Central Asia, while Deosai, the cold deserts and glacier valleys show the extraordinary scale of northern Pakistan.
